hello everyone,
as you can see in the images below i'm trying to paint a mig-29K, however i have encountered difficulty while trying to add panel line wash. i used enamel oil paint for the job, but while trying to clean it off, the paint mark is still present.
i'm not sure how to fix this problem properly in the best way possible.
can anybody give me a suggestion on what i can do to resolve this painting issue?

I can think of two possible causes:
- you waited too long before trying to remove the excess paint.
- and/or you did not gloss varnish the plane before weathering and the panelliner sank into the paint.
The first thing that I would try is a swapstick with some isopropanol but be careful, too much and the paint will be gone. And stay away from the decals with isopropanol.
good luck

In addition, always swipe from the front of the plane to the rear. this gives a more realistic effect because all streaks then follow the airflow when the plane flies

since you used oil wash, it would be better to use odorless thinner to wipe off the remaining stains. This way you make sure that your camo colours (considering you used acrylics) are safe from the thinner. I would guess that if you use alcohol there is a huge chance to wipe off the colours underneath.

I agree with Drabslab, a gloss coat would have protected the paintjob.
Acrylic paint is porous meaning that it will suck up any other liquid that is applied to it so it's best to make a barrier layer with some sort of varnish.
I think with a steady hand you could easily rescue this great model. I would spray the original colour again in very fine coats over the dark areas so that you leave hints of the dark showing through. You could end up with a very natural looking weathering this way. That's just one option if you don't feel confident removing the wash but of course you'd need to protect your decals.

I had not thought of this option but it is a valid suggestion.
whatever what you do, please tell us how it ended up, we may learn something from your experience

Did you forget to apply a gloss coat?
That's what it looks like. Personally I would just respray the camo colours, but only over the wash lines - however I would spray perpendicular to the lines.

i can't use any sprays because my airbrush is missing a vital piece and its too messy. so i'll have to paint it the old fashioned way if i'm gonna paint over the surface.
plus, what about the decals? i can't get any spare decals for this type of mig-29k. that is something i have to consider.
i posted this topic on Britmodeller and some people said i should strip it of paint and start over again with the painting.but that's too difficult because i'll have to take certain parts apart.
but before i consider stripping the paint and repainting my MIG-29, i'll try to paint over it. if it doesn't work, then i'll repaint it.

It looks to me that this is the perfect moment to repair that airbrush, or buy a new one
Decals are in most cases NOT specifical to one MIG-29 type. I guess that with some attention you will find all decals you need in an aftermarke offering. try Hannants, they have several decal sets for the MIG-29.
good luck

I've checked the decals and information about this aircraft, but there are only two mig-29k's of this variant with one seat. there are two seating mig-29k's, but they're not depicted in this model. the only way i can get another set of decals for this is to buy a whole other kit, or wait until somebody is selling the decal set separately. if i have to repaint completely, i guess i'll have to paint a fictional scheme.
but thanks for all your suggestions. its gonna be a while until i get back to work on this and finish it because i need to take a break from this model.....and divert my attention on a different model.

What about having someone do the artwork and printing it out on a clear decal sheet (good laser printer)? That way you can at least save the model theme. The only problem is the white surrround on the numbers, but could be managed with a mask.

I am pretty sure that this decal sheet: authentic decals AD4811 contains most of what you need
