QUESTION:

Landing gear on Russian a/c were what color?

Aluminum.
Lower surface color.
Zinc color.

Yes. Or in other words, look for a photograph and duplicate it, because they can be all of the above. There doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule.

SU-27s appear to be undersurface colour, as do MiG-29s, while SU-25s are dark grey, MiG-21s usually aluminium, An-22s are light grey, which just happens to match the undersurface.

Aircraft from the Great Patriotic War appear to have had landing gear in either undersurface colours or aluminium. As always, pick a photo and paint to match.

drabslab, Jesse was correct that I look at some photos so I googled Yak-7v and came up with many photos and 3views and no two are the same. I will go with a photo is most discernible and the LG are under-surface color except where the oleo is NM.

I will try to not be so lazy next time.
