Hello
i have a soft spot for the Focke Wulf Fw 190 and for some reason for the (in)famous Eduard kit in 1:48 scale.
It don t fall together like Tamigawa and has some flaws but in connection with the well made details, pe parts and decals its a joy to build. The only thing is to take care and line everything up.
The first pictures are from the Fw 190A-6 ProfiPack kit, build oob with the kit decals. Markings are for Georg Schotts white 1.
The decals performed very well and the application is always a highlight for me.
It was started almost a year ago and was finished in October 2016.
The underside. not much dirt.
Pictures from the next one, including the construction very soon, if Photobucket plays with me.
Its not an usual build blog but building these kits continues and updates will be added.
Cheers
Bernd

Eduard's series of Butcher Birds are excellent. You did a superb job! The colors are perfect.

Fantastic work Bernd! This aircraft is one of my all time favourites! I really love the checker board was it a decal? And if so mighty fine work there my friend.

Bernd,
Excellent work on your Focke Wulf. The Cowling and westering came out sweetly.
I have a soft spot for all aircraft serving in the Reichluftvertiedigung.

Thanks for this compliment Chris, the black portions are indeed decals from the kit.
They went on very well even on the bulges beside the cowling.

Thank you Joel, this scheme is indeed attractive but it was discontinued after JG 1s airbase in Holland was attacked by Thunderbolts whith the same chequers on the cowling. The anti aircraft gunner thought it were the own aircrafts !
It was later changed to black and white stripes.

Thank you Gary, these aircraft wore a lot of colorful and interesting markings and camo schemes. Great subjects for modelling !

Bernd, really beautiful paint job on this one.. I live the radial 190's and am looking at picking one up when the stash is less full.. I really like the mottle running over the leading edge of the wing.

Thank you James, i am not sure if the real one had these paint work on the wings leading edge but it looks good and went well.
Eduards 190 would suit your collection and modelling by much.

Hello
i have edited the pictures from the building of my current Eduard Fw 190. The last one was the A-6, now another A-8 is on the bench. Its a Weekend kit with decals from the norwegian based JG 5.
Meanwhile i have made good progress with it and the paint work is done.
The basic sub assemblies.
Everything together.
..with the engine in. The radial will become invisible and its only primed in a dark gray
After everything is on and closed some seams needed correction
More soon !

That engine looks nice Bernd, looking forward to it being painted up. I don't envy you with those seams though ! Happy building.

Brent,
Talk about making progress, you'll be painting by the weekend. Although the leading edge of the wing root looks like you'll be spending some quality time making it perfect.
With all the talk on Terri's build thread about the cowl ring, I noticed that yours is correct as being slightly oversized and a distinctive demarcation line between it and the main section of the cowling.

Thanks for the reply, Joel.
The seams are gone and the rest is a walk through the park.
I have read that discussion about this cowl ring. After looking at pictures of wartime aircrafts and the posted pic of the A-8/R2 from JG 3, i feel the truth is between Tamiyas and the Revell kit.
Tamiya and Eduards versions are too pronounced, i have sanded that part on my 190 back as far as possible.
The Revell armor ring needs a good and deep dark wash and will look o.K.
Happy modelling

Built a few of Eduards Fw 190 and they didn't do so well in the fit of the cowlings . But she does build up nicely . Looking forward of your progress .

Thanks for the comment, Terri. My first Eduard 190 was a total miss. After all it was surprising how much putty a little kit can consume
But it can be done, i like them because of their great details, helpful pe parts and great decals.
The last picture of my construction pix containing an error, i have used the wrong cowling panels.
This needs a correction, more on that later.
Happy modelling

Following this build as I have a dual combo of Eduard FW190 night fighters sitting on the shelf, so interested in how it all goes together.
That first finished build certainly looks the business.

Painting progress:
The basic camo is done, not much mottling, the few pictures and profiles of "blue four" didn t showed much.
The camo is sprayed free hand on, came out o.k but the dark portions behind the exhaust stacks need some work.
The used fan blade is borrowed from a Hasegawa 190 looks way better during construction.
The profile in the Squadron Signal walkaround volume showed some mottling aft of the RV band/fuselage cross.
The underside
More soon.

Bernd,
You make a sweet paint job, man. I've got one of these Eduard A-8's in my stash. It's been sitting idle too long.
