Hi all this is my next wip


Got some work on the tub done.





I have a little problem with the access hatches on top of the fuselage.. they have been sanded too vigorously and for the life of me I can't rescribe a good enough circle or oval. Any ideas ?

James - Do you have a template set for scribing various circles/ovals ? If not perhaps you can make one out of shim brass or aluminum flashing . It will likely be easier to make the template as if it were the hatch or opening itself ( positive) but the scribing will be easier if the template is made to the shape around the hatch/opening ( negative ) as the template can be taped down to the model. K & S Engineering offers a variety pack of shim brass most of which can be cut with sharp scissors and available from most hobby sources. Hope this helps .

Richard thankyou that was very helpful information! I managed to use some makeshift templates for the more noticeable missing bits. And Charles, thankyou. This is my first ju88 . I want to build all of the German twins in 1/48

The fuselage halves were too curved providing me with a rather nasty 1mm gap to fill on each side of the wing root. They are getting there. Lots of careful sanding and filling. Pics thus far..



And the gear legs..




Eduards masking set was invaluable and a great time saver. Highly recommended.

Thanks Terri. Haha if I get answers many troubles with other kits as I am with this one Count me out.. whilst the kit is fun to build i am having trouble with the fit of some key parts. The nacelles are not fitting with the engine firewall inside so expect to shave of a bit to get them to Sithe right. Also the problem with the wing join has been really bugging me. I tried using filler and then superglue when I should have just put in some strip styrene. With any movement on the wing I get a lovely cracking reappear

Anyway I should be nearing the paint stage soon and with the frustrations I am having I should be happy when it's done. The thing is I really want to build their do17 but I'm worried that the fit will be troublesome also.

Charles sorry for the late reply. This build has stalled but I will be picking it back up when my workbench thins out a bit. It's a nice kit but there are a few fit issues that the experienced modeller will have no trouble sorting out . The detail is nice and its very large (I'm used to 1/72 mainly).

That is a wild looking seat for the pilot! How in the world would one get comfortable?

I really appreciate the weathering on the landing struts. Great looking work.

Hate it when you have to fill and sand... it really is a pain.

Looking forward to more!
