I havent built it yet but I do have it and overall it is a nice kit. It could use a lot more detail on the inside but it really looks good on the outside. Cant wait to work on it whenever I get the time.

On the real aircraft or the model? On the real aircraft the length of a Charlie model is 42ft 7 in and the main rotor diameter was 44ft.

Man,it would be AWESOME if the Cobra Company released an Interior and Weapons update set (not to mention a couple of good pilot/co-pilot and door gunner/crew chief figures )for this kit! And a decal sheet with some of the more colorful Vietnam gunship markings would REALLY set this model off...

Hey, I can dream, can't I...?

Aloha,

I think I read on the CC website that the guy who owns the company is wanting to do a detail set for it. Since the dimensions are pretty spot on and it looks like a Huey, Im just gonna leave it as is because I'll have it hanging so know one really notices the lack of finesse.

Hello,
here in Germany we can get it for around 39 Euros ( 45 Bucks) and i got one. Havent buit it yet, only started with the 2.75 inch 7 rocket pod for a real C-model of a Huey gunship.

Hey PFC, the 1/24 helicopter is19-5/8 long and has a rotor span of 20-3/4 long. In the way of aftermarket parts...none. This is a good kit, a lot can be done with it by doing some scratch building. You also find walk arounds on the inter-net as well as books such as Squadron/ signal UH-1 walk around and Gunslingers in Action. The first pic shows a scratchbuilt mini gun and the armor add-ons to the seats, never finnished this yet...someday.

my cousin was a crew chief/doorgunner with the 1st aviation brigade over in vietnam, seem to recall on one of his pics that a tin can wass attached to the m60 on the left side for the belted ammo to feed over, the ammo was coming out of an ammo can they had mounted on the deck next to the mg. looked to be about the size of a regular can[ tomato soup?] he said it kept the belt from binding while firing the mg.

Hey Rebelsoldier, yes your right, actualy it's a C-Raction can fixed to the feed chutes on the M-60's this prevented jamming of the guns.

Hey Mother we set our M60 up the same way in Lebanon we still had CRATs in those days. Worked like a charm. I found Beans and Baby $%#& worked best. LOL

PFC
As to model size with a roter span that size you could motorize it and make a cieling fan out of it. Now that would be different.

I've been looking at get that very model if you build it keep us posted as to your progress.

I just finished a Huey C for a Viet Nam Vet. I built his gunship down to the tail numbers and unit markings. I found this site invaluable ( his units site)

I hope this helps.
