Found a couple reviews stating the rack for the bomb and/or drop tank is correct to be off center, while on a few occasions I've seen modelers fix it so the rack was dead center - so which is correct?
If it is suppose to be off center, would the ordnance also remain off center? Was this typical of earlier 109 marks as well?

Yes, the center rack is supposed to be slightly off-center. According to Aero Detail 5 book, it was mounted so that the center line of the rack was 40mm to the left of the center line of the fuselage.
