Richard,
Fuel capacities differed by model, and the P12 and F4B differed based on the model type, so you need to know which version you're addressing. Here's the capacities from Aircraft in Profile:
F4B-1: 57-107 gal
F4B-2: 55-110
F4B-3: 55-110
F4B-4: 55-110
P12: 52-99
P12-B: 50-99
P12-C: 50-110
P12-E: 55-110
The reason there is such a wide variance in capacity is the semi-detachable 50 gallon fuel tank between the landing gear struts for both the P12 and F4B

Thanks Russ - I have lately been musing about quantum differences in aircraft of different eras and found it interesting to contemplate that while only a scant 45 years or so apart , the F-14 in full afterburner burns nearly twice as much fuel in one minute than the F4B could hold and Cary!
I'm thinking this theme might make for an interesting thread - Richard

Richard,
That would be an interesting comparison! But you have to remember there are two engines in an F-14, and the thrust and wing loading are a bit different than a fabric covered wing of an F4B!! I inadvertently left the final capacity for an F4B-4 off---it should read 50-110 gallons.
