Yes indeed, I was jealous. I actually found one of those Superscale decal sheets, and an Airfix 737 kit or two, and it has been in the to-do drawer ever since. I think that EE kit has rendered my stash redundant.
If I were you I'd go back to the Airfix kit and the Superscale decal sheet. EE 737s are dire.

What about the decals? do you think a 30 year old superscale decal is better than a new EE one?

Probably it would be. Eastern Express decals are usable, but that's about the end of the story. They're very thin, very matte and fragile. Also the colour saturation demands that they go over white if they're not to end up looking washed out.
The EE 737 kits were all copied from Minicraft kits and hacked about until they look more-or-less like the subject they're supposed to look like. A good modeller can beat one into submission but why bother when the Airfix kit is less painful to build?

Thanks for that discussion. I guess I was seduced by the box art.
Not that I dont have plenty of projects queued up, but I recently found that Pointerdog decals has made a set for the matching Vickers Viscount,
That would make a nice double build with the 737.

I dug out my 737 project. Two Airfix kits and decals for Aloha flower power, and Air Nauru 737s from the 1970s.
edit to add - that Air Cal design is very interesting and evocative too. It's possible i rode on AirCal from LAX or to Oakland or SFO,or Burbank or somesuch when I was a little lad...but I think it might have been a prop jet...

Here is another project i have in the queue -
I like Jet Blue, they run a tight ship, and all their aircraft have names and unique liveries.
I have kits and decals for two different Jet Blue A320 models
"Blue moon",
and "Blue Squares"

Taking an opportunity to beat the drum, I would like to see more Aeroscalers build some airliners!

And a reminder that very many US civil airliners served Da Nang and else where in VietNam during the war there.

This week's
787 Feature should help drum up some interest.

here are a few more cards in my collection from my visit to Belgium 1983. there was a national strike on, the customs guys refused to look at my bag! OK then! I had no camera in those days so bought post cards everywhere I went. No trains were running, so I had to hitch-hike to the Nederland frontier. That was top cool because there were so many of us going, and every car going that way was taking every one they could fit!
This one is older, i think.
look at all that kero smoke
mean while, where is this?

This has fallen off the first page, so I'll give it one last bump.
We got seven volunteers, not enough for a GO. If three more enthusiasts don't appear to fill the quorum, I'll let is go for another year.

OK, how about this -
The "airlifters" campaign idea got five volunteers,
JessieC
Nito74
Drabslab
MichaelSatin
SgtRam
The "commercial airliners" got six
JClapp
Bigrip74
Cosimodo
MD72
litespeed
iflytb20
Now I suggest merging these two concepts into one
"Pax and Pallets"
if the above volunteers will still be interested we have enough to go with.
the rules are simple - aircraft with spacious cabin designed to carry people and luggage where it needs to go. Could include aerial refueling tankers and fire fighters.

This particular aircraft seen here at Boeing works in Renton, WA, played a memorable role in the Vietnam conflict.
The F-27 was a sturdy reliable machine. A very amusing card from a far away time and place -

"Pax and pallets" combines "commercial airliners" and "airlifters".
the new rule is, it flies and carries people and/or stuff where it needs to go.
this thread is now redundant.
