In all fairness to Gas Patch and MANY other manufacturers out there,not withholding "normal" increases in overhead, materials, labour, etc., we have no one to blame but us builders for the prices of today's kits. We practically DEMAND that kit makers produce kits that are flawless, accurate to within a micro-millimeter. Have every option available. Superbly printed decals. Instructions that border on works of art. That said, you begin to understand the reason for the high kit price. I doubt most of us, myself included, haven't the foggiest idea of the trials and tribulations a person must go through to get a kit to market...ESPECIALLY a smaller dealer like Gas Patch.
I do not mind paying for a maker that has gone the extra mile to put out a product that is pure joy to build from EVERY aspect. Yes, we have budgets to live by and there are priorities in life...BUT...if you want the best, you gotta put your cash on the table lads...it's that simple...!
Now... go build something...as Mike would say...!
