Here's a look at GasPatch's new-tool kit of the Hs 123. The highly detailed and comprehensive model features excellent styrene and photo-etched parts, Cartograf decals, and even includes a jig for assembling the undercarriage.

Rowan - This is certainly a beautiful kit and I just may pony up and spend even though I agree it is big bucks. Regarding the control surfaces

Oops ! ( continued) I may be wrong about this but I believe the the B version had metal skinned upper wing and control surfaces while the A version used fabric - anyway , thanks for a great review

Hi Richard

That may be correct. I hope so, because it will save a chore. I'm going by the MMP book, which shows the change in the wing and aileron construction between the 'A and 'B, but still shows fabric covered elevators and rudder.

All the best

Rowan

Hi again

I've had a look at GasPatch's website and they have fabric covered elevators and rudder in the 'A, so it could be that MMP missed the change in their book.

All the best

In all fairness to Gas Patch and MANY other manufacturers out there, not withholding "normal" increases in overhead, materials, labour, etc., we have no one to blame but us builders for the prices of today's kits. We practically DEMAND that kit makers produce kits that are flawless, accurate to within a micro-millimeter. Have every option available. Superbly printed decals. Instructions that border on works of art. That said, you begin to understand the reason for the high kit price. I doubt most of us, myself included, haven't the foggiest idea of the trials and tribulations a person must go through to get a kit to market...ESPECIALLY a smaller dealer like Gas Patch.

I do not mind paying for a maker that has gone the extra mile to put out a product that is pure joy to build from EVERY aspect. Yes, we have budgets to live by and there are priorities in life...BUT...if you want the best, you gotta put your cash on the table lads...it's that simple...!

Now... go build something...as Mike would say...!

Well said Laurie - I don't think the price is an unfair one - I pay more for WnW's kits - I will also use the excuse that I am supporting a fledgling manufacturer should I buy - truth be told I am going to have to live a very long life indeed to get through my stash as it is without taking into account my other interests so I wrestle with spending that much to open the box and ogle the contents for an hour or two then squirrel it away . If I were to build it straight away I would purchase it immediately!

If anyone out there would like to be my wealthy patron and support me in order that I might quit my job and devote my time to my hobbies I have no objection
Cheers gents ! Richard

.. under 50 euros for a kit of this quality doesn't seem overly excessive. Having said that it is more than twice the price of a 32nd scale Revell Spitfire IX!
