Do you know of anyone that makes a 1/35 scale P-51D in Plastic or Resin? If not, how much out of scale will a 1/32 look like in a dio with 1/35 vehicles and figures?
Also which 1/32 P-51D kit do you like best?

As far as I'm aware, there's no 1/35 Mustang available. 1/32 is about 9% out of scale compared to 1/35, but it's really only apparent when there's an example of the same machine in each scale sitting beside each other. Mixing 1/32 aircraft with 1/35 vehicles is fairly common, and most of the time nobody notices anything wrong.

Thanks Jesse. Any idea who makes a good P-51D beginner to mid-level kit? I don't delve into airplanes much.

I may disagree with Jessie on this one, a 9% difference in scale seems quite noticable.
The historic manufacturers error is to have two scales so close to each other.
If my sources are right then Tamiya made the huge mistake starting up a line of AFV in 1/35 and not 1/32 what was already common for airplanes back then.
If you want to combine aircraft with AFV in a diorama then you could also consider 1/48 scale where you can find both in the same scale.

The scale difference is only noticeable if you put two things next to each other that are supposed to be the same size. Mixing 1/35 And 1/32 figures actually gives you a better range of human size. Just don't put a 1/35 rifle next to a 1/32 one.
You could also use perspective and group similarly scaled items together.

I built the 1/32 Monogram Shermans and had them displayed with Testors 1/35 M4 and they were close in size tho there has always been questions about Monograms accuracy. The figures were actually fairly close in height. Nobody will really notice the difference. Different manufacturers of, lets say a 1/35 Tiger, will often vary in dimension. So a Dragon Tiger could be a different length or width than a Tamiya Tiger which could different than a Academy Tiger. This drives rivet counters insane. So build what you want. If you really want accuracy maybe consider 1/72 scale for your subject.

1/35 was an accidental scale. The first Tamiya tank kit was made to fit the then-current electrical motor and running gear, and it worked out to 1/35 scale, so that's what they stuck with for all the other ones.

Wow! Thanks all for your input. I learned something new about 1/35 scale. I'll look into the suggested scales, but they might be too small for my ageing eyes.

Yeah know what you mean, sometimes I'll squint so hard working on a build that I'll throw my back out.
