Mark Davies has found a Photobucket fix - direct links to get free extensions for Firefox and Chrome browsers to delete the Photobucket ransom demand and restore the original images. Just follow this link to see Mark's posting.

Of course, it's likely only a matter of time before they plug up the exploit that plugin uses to circumvent the blocking of external hotlinking, but hey, then the plugin'll get updated.
Now if someone would come up with a plugin that would make Photobucket's album download tool to actually work... Seems it's either simply broken, or it's constantly under such stress from people taking copies of their stuff that it manages to work only occasionally.
