Hello everyone
I just getting into modern aircraft after a spell of ship modelling. Fancied a change. I came across a 1989 Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat Atlantic Squadrons kit a bring and buy sale in Falkirk, Scotland last weekend.
I'd like to design my own custom tail decals and was wondering if anyone has some accurate 1/48 scale PDF drawings that would allow me to design the decals. I intend to use adobe illustrator, using a nice drawing a template.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone could help me out. I bought a nice book from the kindle store on amazon, "Colours & Markings of US Navy Tomcats Pt.1". I'll be using this book as a reference when I decide what aircraft i'll base my kit on.
Cheers
Martin

You do not necessarily need pdf drawings in 1/48 scale.
Why not take a picture of the parts of the model where the custom decals have to be applied.
Such jpg could be an excellent backgound to draw your decals on on an new layer.
Afterwards you only need to scale your drawing while printing. As soon as the jpg background is exactly the same size as the model part, the decal will be of correct size as well.

That makes two of us
I woudl appreciaet it if you could make a small feature of how you make those decals. I have been dreaming of making decals myself (I even bought all thr necessary) but never got round to actually doing it
