Here's another one. I love this aircraft. For my money the most elegant airframe ever.
Fine Molds, and I don't know what went on here, kitted this with the single worst decals I have ever used. I really wanted to do one of these manchukuo Hayabusas with the huge slogan down the side but I couldn't salvage those decals. They were too big, no trick in the book could save them. This is a reasonably big betrayal by Fine Molds because A: they usually have top notch decals, and B: if this kit didn't have those markings I would have jolly well bought the superior Hasegawa.
And finally, in this close up you can see what I had to do to get the damned roundels out. They shattered like this as they soaked, unmolested. Had to jigsaw them into place.

Hi Richard - The Hayabusa is my favorite as well - I have several in the stash ,both FineMolds and Hasegawa . Good to know about the Manchouko Markings as I have that kit . I had the same experience with FineMolds decals on two of their first generation Claude kits I bought on eBay but I chalked it up to age. Looks like you did a good job saving yours.
Cheers Richard

Nice save with the decals, I think I'd rather spray these markings on, using the decals out of box as a template.
Overall, a beautifully done Hayabusa. Have to get back to the two I have started some time ago...
Best regards
Hubert
