Hey guys, I just found this community and I figured it was the best place to post this question. I'm currently building a ME262A-2a/U2 from Dragon. https://imgur.com/a/eks4C I've included a imgur album with several depictions of the plane. Basically I'm trying to figure out what the best hobby brand color would be for the "top" part of the model. I believe the bottom is simply Luftwaffe light blue. I don't have the best eye for color and I honestly can't even tell if the three photos I included are even the same paint scheme. Thanks in advance.

According to the 3-volume Classic Publications book on the Me-262, the airplane you have described was painted in RLM 81 and RLM 82 on the upper surfaces and RLM 76 on the undersides. The wings and tailplanes were in a splinter pattern and the fuselage and upper nacelles were mottled with both of the greens, but so heavily that it almost appeared to be a solid color, except at the lower edges where the two greens met the light blue of the undersurfaces. IIRC, almost all of the leading paint brands have these three shades: Gunze, Modelmaster, Vallejo, Lifecolor, Tamiya, etc.

Thanks moogieman, this is very helpful, I'm still baffled that that model is painted dark green, it almost looks like a dark grey or a black to me. Can you speak to the accuracy of the Humbrol RLM paints? They have a RLM 81, 82 and 83 that all look pretty similar to the end result.

I'm not trying to promote humbrol, just trying to find the easiest way to get this model looking somewhat authentic.
Thanks again.
