We receive some wonderful donations at the Oxfam bookshop which I run. The generosity of our donors never ceases to amaze and humble me - and amongst the everyday items we do find some real gems!

A true classic came in the other day - a 1977 second edition copy of Harry Woodman's "Scale Model Aircraft In Plastic Card":



It's a really nice clean copy. My Deputy at the shop immediately thought of me to buy it - but I've still got my original copy that I bought way back then - and it's been my go-to modelling book ever since.

Harry Woodman is a legend amongst UK modellers, especially for his Early Aviation work, and the techniques he described back in the '70s for scratchbuilding are just as valid today all these years later.

Be aware Harry Woodman's book is the ultimate "go-to" guide for scratchbuilding just about anything. Want to engrave plastic? You can find it here. vacforming? Yep, it's here too. Want to scratchbuild a wing? it's here. Detail cockpits from scratch? Yep. Harry Woodman was a genius when it came to taking a piece of styrene and making it into an aircraft model. This book is highly in demand among plastic craftsmen. If I didn't already have a copy (that I searched high and low for for years), I'd snap this one up in an instant.

It's a great book (I still refer to my copy frequently) - and, not surprisingly, this copy sold today.

Thank you to whoever bought it - the money raised is equivalent to an Oxfam Unwrapped voucher to shelter a refugee or provide an emergency survival kit.
