Beautiful detail and accuracy as usual for Tamiya. I just wish they would have done the Corsairs like their P-51s and Spitfires so the various parts like landing gear, wings, control surfaces and canopy could be repositioned after assembly. Those features would have been the icing on the cake! A 1/32nd F-105 with those features would be stunning-especially from Tamiya!

It's another fine kit.

All it needs is RNZAF decals.

AM decals are on the way from Fundekals for sure. Others likely to follow. Masks are also very useful in this scale.

Bill, nice review, thanks! Not to be pedantic (though I guess I am), but most American (and most export too) -1D's were in overall gloss dark sea blue, no white undersides. Some -1's and almost all -1A's had non-specular dark sea blue uppers, intermediate blue sides and undersides of outer wings, and white undersides. This is pretty general and you will, of course, see exceptions; but that's what you'll mostly see.

Hi, Michael, thanks for the comments, you're not being pedantic at all. I believe overall GSB is what the kit offers in its painting guide. Of course, Fundekals for one will probably have some alternative painting options to go with their decal options.

Nice review Bill thank you and I share your observations and sentiments; i.e. in my own experience the 1/32 Tamiya F-4Us are the best engineered and fitting kit I have EVER built and I have built Tamiya's 1/32 Spits, Zeros, P51s and also a lot of the WNW range.

I know we always say it, but the F4U makes you wonder how much higher the bar can be raised with injection moulding. Even if not interested in the F4U as a subject, every aero modeller should build one just for the sheer amount of smiles and head shaking (in wonderment) it gives as you progress with it.
