Several F-16 aircraft have been painted with a similar type technological paint (radar dispersion & absorption) that are on the F-22 and F-35 jets. The issue is it is nearly impossible to tell what base colors were used to make the paint. We have read that FS 36170 could be one of the base paints used - can anyone confirm that ? And if it is 2 tone, what is the other base color ?

We know that the original F-16 colors (other than that used in aggressor squadrons) were painted in 2 or 3 tone schemes. Does anyone have knowledge that the same base colors were used for the "Have Glass" scheme ? If NOT the same base colors, anyone venture a guess as to the base colors used on the new paint jobs ?

Once we get the information, we can develop the Radar Disp. paint for the F-16 using the same technology we have for the F-22 and F-35 paints.

Any help would be appreciated in this project.

We have had several conversations about this subject on other forums and it has been confirmed the F-16 Have Glass scheme involves only a single color which is FS 36170 (or as close to that color as feasible). The radome is a lighter color, but has no additive in it so as not to interfere with the radar used by the jet.

So that mystery is solved and we will add the new paint formulation sometime in 2018 for this scheme.

The "Have Glass" paint has been released by Tru-Color Paint. Stock # is TCP-1225. It is available in 1 (30 ml) and 2 (60 ml) oz. bottles from your favorite hobby shop or online store. It can also be purchased directly from us.

Note that this paint has the "glassy" appearance that is present on the actual aircraft.

There is still time to VOTE on the first 6 military paint sets we should develop for the IPMS National Convention to be held in August at the Phoenix Convention Center. The survey is on our website at:

trucolorpaint.com/trucolor-paint-release-survey/

So far there has been over 540 responses and we will be making the announcement on which sets are being done after the survey ends in the first week of May - so hurry and VOTE.

Besides the new sets that we will have at the convention we will have the ENTIRE military product line that is in current production for SALE plus colors that have been recently developed on display for RAF WWII, All of the ANA and prewar colors for U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corpse and some of the German Armor colors.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reply to this thread or contact us directly.
