Hi there

I've just used Brush 'n Leaf "Silver Leaf" on my current project. With all the other types of metallic paints that have appeared over the years, I'd forgotten how good it is, and it's given a superb bright silver finish despite the pot not having been opened for probably 25 years - you can see how old it is by the state of the cap!

My question stems from the prominent warning on the label - "NOT FOR SPRAY APPLICATION". Has anyone here used Brush 'n Leaf successfully with an airbrush? From an H&S point of view, I've got a spray booth and extractor, plus a proper mask - so, can you airbrush it?

All the best

Rowan,
don't you ever throw anything out. That bottle looks almost as old as me.

Nope he never does, just incase it becomes useful, but more probable is he forgot where he put it the first time .
This looks like something from the Victorian ages, and probably contains lead .

Hi Andy

LOL! I certainly plead guilty on the first count - I'm a notorious hoarder!

But I hadn't forgotten where it was - it was neatly stacked with all my other metallic paints (surprisingly well organised for me! ). It's just sat unfairly ignored for far too long.

If you really want old paints, you should see the Airfix and Humbrol ones I have dating back to the 70s that still sound OK in their pots! I even still have a couple of old Airfix bottles from the 60s - but they're long past being any use (as I remember it, it wasn't very great paint in the first place).

Hi again

So - getting back to the original question after the totally justified digs at the disorganised heap that I call a workshop ... has anybody ever sprayed this stuff?

It looks like it should work so well, so I'm mystified by the in-your-face warning.

All the best

If you have the appropriate ppe I say go for it and give it a try.

The only question I could see is if the pigment particles are too large and might clog?
