I was just browsing at Best1Hobby.com and ran across a 1/48 scale Lavochkin La-7 from Academy. I thought the only offerings of that plane (or the La-5) were the out-of-production and not-very-good Hobbycraft kit and the reputedly good but very expensive ($30!!) Gavia kit.
What's the story on this Academy thing? Rebox of the Hobbycraft kit, maybe?

I think it's the Hobbycraft kit reboxed. Don't quote me on that though...I believe the only reboxing of the Gavia kit is done by Eduard

Hi there
Yes, it's the Hobbycraft version. Academy have re-boxed a number of other ex-Hobbycraft kits: Boeing P-26, Seversky P-35, Polikarpov I-16, Messerschmitt Bf 109 (various versions) and Curtiss P-40. There may be more.
All the best
