Hello!

Although I have some unfinished projects, I'm starting this new aircraft build, because I really like the desert camouflage on those Spitfires. Kit is 8282 from Eduard.
I chose the Stanislav Skalski's airplane, a Polish ace. The US markings are also interesting, but I'm already building an American Spitfire .
I bought also resin top cowl replacement (must have and cheap, because the plastic part is from two pieces) and doors for the cockpit.







I would also like to share my highly positive experience with Eduard customer support. There was sprue missing with the large bulged gun covers, which made building most of the variants (including the desert ones) impossible.
Contacted them on the same day, very fast reply and the missing parts were here after 4-5 working days for free. So they are very best in that

Eduard Spitfire Mk.IXc early or late versions are exceptional kits. I'll be following your build to it's conclusion for sure.

I'm building an Eduard 1/72 Mk.IX right now. If its quality is any indication, you are in for a good time. :-)

looking forward to your build, can you check the fit of the top cowl, as i have purchased 5 of them (combination of the early and late cowl) and only one actually fits properly, they are 1mm too long, i had Eduard send me replacements and they are exactly the same, not sure how to overcome that issue without losing detail on the cowl,

Yep, sadly the resin cowl is 1mm longer and it will be impossible to correct it without damaging the fine detail. The flush rivets are also misaligned. I think I will use the kit one, although from two parts.

I also used a Resin one piece cowl rather then the kit two piece affair, as there was so many posts that the seam just was impossible to deal with. I really don't remember if I had to sand the front down, but I'd go that route rather then having to deal with the seam.

Maybe a little sanding from both ends will do the job

I'd certainly go that way as you have nothing to loose and everything to gain. You're looking at 1/2mm on either end which is almost nothing.

That's a bit disappointing, especially as it's Eduard resin for Eduard. I have some Barracudacast ones, but haven't checked how they fit.

Actually, with some careful sanding the fit is good . I was afraid not to compromise the detail, but it tuned out quite well. Again, be very careful when sanding

venelin i will be following too. i have the late version so i guess the cowl is the same there too. can i ask if there is a trop filter in the kit and what part # it is? not too familiar with spits.

There's different resin cowl for the late IXc. I'm not sure for the filter, not very familiar either, there are parts E5 and E6 not used, that looks like.

Looks perfect. I always expect some needed adjustments when working with AM resin parts. That way, when none is needed it's a pleasant surprise, but when some adjustments are, I'm prepared for it.
