Tru-Color Paint is in the planning stages of developing military paint sets for the modeler. We have about 30 potential sets we could assemble on the drawing board and have produced mock-up art work for all the sets. Our intent is to release 4-6 of these sets at the IPMS National Convention in August of this year. We are requesting the modeler's input as to which of these sets YOU would like to see.
There will be a poll (or survey) on our website by the end of March showing all of the proposed sets with their composition. We will let you know when the poll is posted on the website so you can vote on the sets we should produce. All military and related areas will be represented - armor, air forces, ships, diorama, figures and detailing and covers the U.S. and Israeli paints (these are the colors currently produced and ready to place into the sets).
If you wish to get a jump start on the survey, we can email you a Acrobat file of the description of each set along with their contents. Just let us know if this is wanted by email, this thread or call us.
How many manufacturer's request YOUR input on what they should place into production ? Tru-Color Paint listens to our customers and want to be your go to company for accurate, easy to use paint for your models, dioramas, figures, etc.
All comments are welcome. Come see us at the IPMS National Convention on August 1-4 in Phoenix, AZ !

It's because he's cross posted to multiple forums, but effectively hijacked the forum summary section. Enthusiasm is one thing, but this and other posts are, to me, coming across as self-centered. I won't speak for anyone else but I'm becoming less enamored with Tru-paints.

I agree with your statement Spud.
This is direct marketing producer2customer. Now imagine if all brands, plastics, aftermarket stuff or paints used this same method here...

After some reflection:
Yep, I find the many forum posts and treads of tru-color a bit disturbing, it looks like hidden and cheap publicity.
On the other hand, Tru color is asking our opinion and we should be very happy about this, in fact, we should take this opportunity with both hands to get the products we want and need.
The only issue is that Tru-color is using the only tool it has available: the forum. And a forum may not be the best place for this kind of conversations. Like someone remarked, imagine that all manufactures would do the same, they would hi-jack the whole forum.
So, maybe staff-Jim could take this into account when working on the new kitmaker software, how he could give manufacturers a direct line for interactions with their customers on kitmaker (and earn some cash in the process), without spamming the forum.

Maybe it is possible to create a subforum where manufacturers only can start discussions and we as humble customers only can respond.
Just an attempt to contribute .

Now that’s a brilliant idea! If manufacturers want some feedback from the “market” then your suggestion provides just that, and helps keeping massive B2C posts flooding the forum.
Well thought indeed Jelger

To be fair I can see how it can be difficult to reach all of us - in all of our different haunts and whatnot. I never check the other subforums so I wouldn't come across this info if it wasn't x-posted.
Perhaps it would have been better to contact the admins to get this posted in the News.

Our main goal was to get as much feedback as possible. Not every modeler reads every forum so we posted on several forums to reach the highest readership. The survey will be posted on our website by the end of March and since there are strictly armor, aircraft or ship modelers (and some even specialize in scale or an era they will do) it is only fair that all modelers have a chance to vote.
Again - I'll reiterate, how many of you have seen a major manufacturer ask YOUR OPINION on what we should manufacture ?

Not many, well, none as far as I know. Your initiative is very welcome.
This discussion is not about criticisng your effort, on the contrary. We would like to have a solution where manufacturers could have systematic discussions with us.

One of the things I note about forums (and that's all forums across many different venues) is that there can be lots of people who read the threads, but very few replies.
That is why surveys (or polls) need a large volume of people they go to as responses to them, in most cases, are a low percentage.
Anyway, the data and a few set mock-ups went to our website developer for him to work on getting the survey placed on our website. Will let you know when it will be published.
