Thanks for the clarification. It's much appreciated. That Eduard's IP really looks quite good as the instruments are all super sharp.
The inside of the cowl rings is amazing. Sure hope enough of that detail can be seen if one does get a close up look.
Your big Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial really looks the part. I only wish the picture was bigger so I could admire the details. The ignition wires look really quite good color wise.

The cowl assembly is finished up and is ready for paint . Have a few touch ups with a polishing stick .
Fit of the resin parts are good but there was careful sanding and test fitting for this . Did have a few of the spring things on the cooling flaps , they got in the way of the exhaust , but all is well now .
Not much of the detail can seen from the cooling flaps ...

I'm really impressed with the resin detail parts for the cowling flaps as well as the cowl ring. Took a real steady and knowledgeable hand to get it to look that good.

Your welcome Joel . It is an impressive set indeed . Adds just the right amount of detail in key areas . I was going to get Aires wheel well set , but it looks like just a copy with very little detail .
Don't know about the hands though . I had to use a mag glass to see what I was doing and slow setting glue to give lots of time to angle things up . Few breaks in between and even a nap !

Hi Terri, your engine and interior cowl work looks really nice. One of the things I like about radial engines is how nice they look when detailed out.

Thanks Ernest . For the kits age it's not bad but some of the details are soft .
Joel , wish I could do naps every day , but at least I have the weekends !
I'm almost finished with building the sub assemblies . Just the landing gear to go which I'm working on now . Prop is painted waiting decals . Still have the mask the canopy . But I'm preety much ready for primer and on with painting . Will have pic's up soon ..

tuning in here late but i will be following the build since the corsair is one of my favorite U.S. aircraft. great work so far, love the detail on the cowl. Makes me want to give it a try with one of my kits in my stash.

! A friend of mine did one of these a few years ago and told me that it probably was the best fitting kit he had ever built. I suppose the design where the wing meets the fuselage without even the slightest hint of a fillet helps !

I agree with your friend . It is a very well fitting kit and the wing design for the assemble is perfect ! No filling , sanding , filling more sanding . Having the fillet not there makes a huge difference . Terri

Time has been well spent this weekend in front of the bench . I'm at the stage now where it is clear coat and decals . I did lose a few PE parts for the main lading gear legs so I didn't bbother with the others other then brake lines . On the wheel well doors the kit hinges will work just fine skipping the PE parts . ( I can see myself knocking these off multiple times .)

Your Corsair is looking good Terri. I sometime wonder if PE is worth the effort, and I am fairly selective in my use of it. I have not built a 1/48 scale kit in some time, but I well remember some of the struggles with the PE I had on a few of the builds. 1/32 scale is much easier to manage, but the PE can still be teeth grindingly irritating at times.
Are you planning on folding the wings? I will probably fold the wings of my F4U-1A build; and I am looking at ways to add any superdetailing that might be needed. Not much thus far, as you know, the Tamiya 1/32 Corsairs are real gems to build.

I do the same when it comes to PE parts and with failing eye site the smaller ones don't get used . Carpet monster get them .

Hi Joel , I didn't have the right stenciling so I used a few from the kit . They should be black , but once on a dark scheme you really wouldn't see them in this scale . I'm rather please how my per-fading turned out . There is a few shades under the sea blue .
Will be experimenting with is . Still have a few US naval aircraft in the stash .

Nice and shiny Terri! The decals look great, as does the rest of the build. I think the pre-fading will look even better once you dull coat the build.
