I have been over the IPMS Stockholm color charts, the RLM charts in the features section and Google. I have not found what I am looking for, I use TAMIYA acrylic paint and had a formula of mixing XF-59 (3) to XF-64 (1), but it still looks too dark.
Any suggestions? I wish to build a couple of Bf109's in Afrika Corps colors and need some guidance.

Hi Bob,
Sorry I can't really help you other than to tell you something you probably already know, and to provide this URL with several paint samples per color, researched against several sources.
http://penelope.uchicago.edu/~grout/encyclopaedia_romana/luftwaffe/colors.html
RLM79 is speculated to have, at first, been of Italian stocks, and was called Sandgelb. (Bf 109E) A year or so later RLM had their own paint, he browner variant called Sandbraun. (Bf 109F & G).

Frederick, Thanks for your help. I had seen this link and noticed the wide variation in shades. It seems that what ever shade I choose should be close enough.

Hi Bob Aeromaster made a RLM79 in both acrylic and enamel, although I believe they are no longer in production regretfully! Vallejo also make a RLM79 as well which I've used and quite like. I think the Aeromaster paints are a good match but as we both know the harsh conditions in North Africa would've weathered the paint drastically.
As an example here's a Fi156C Storch I built a while ago and painted using the Aeromaster paints unmixed just diluted and sprayed. This is the acrylic version, I've seen the paints regularly on eBay and might be easily accessible to you.
And a 1/72 scale ICM Bf109E-7 I really like this camo on this aircraft it's always been an iconic photo from the theater.
I've also used the Aeromaster paints on this kit as well.
