I came along with this kit, the AV-8B by Monogram in 1/48 scale. As I look at the sides of the box, it has the Hasegawa logo inprinted in it. Now, could this Harrier be a rebox of Hasegawa?

Perhaps Hasegawa imports Revell-Monogram kits to your part of the world? That Monogram AV-8B has been around for quite some time.

Shonen,
Sabot is correct on that note, I personally would not build that kit put it away in a nice safe place. Hasagawa and R/M share kits. Its goes as far as the Monogram Promodeler Line is now mostly reboxes of Hasagawa kits. About that harrier though its catching a fair price here in Japan since hasagawa has stoped bringing that one into Asia since they have their own Harriers now. Which both are real nice kits by the way. Other Hasagawa/Monogram releases are the HE111, Blue Angel A-4 (now a Promodeler release on the retooled Hasagawa molds), F-102, and F106 kits to name a few. I grab these when I see them as they make a nice addition to any collection. BTW Hasagawa also adds new markings to the kits as well. HTH STUG

You may be correct. I've inspected the kit inside and to my surprise that it has raised details instead of reccesed ones. Also, it costs 1200 Philippine peso! ($24 USD). Might as well buy the Hasegawa Harrier II. Still, I get tempted by this baby because this is a Harrier, my all fav jet.

I have heard of this, but it still surprises me, 2 large companies that compete against each other, but work with each other, rather than trying to STOMP the competition.

Mold sharing and reboxing happen quite often. Tamiya reboxes Italeri armor kits for sale in Japan and Tamiya's original Hummer w/M242 Bushmaster is an Italeri kit. Revell of Germany reboxes Italeri, DML, Esci, Monogram, Matchbox and some eastern European armor kits. DML reboxes Alan and Maquette kits. The list goes on and on.

The fun one I noticed that causes confusion.....
When a company goes under and the molds go up for auction. You never know where they'll end up or if the kits will ever see the light of day again. Thank god Accurate Miniatures was able to buy their molds back after they reformed. who knows how long it would have been before someone re-released their B-25's and TBM's. STUG

Shoen:
The "new" Revell/Mongram kit is a rebox of thier old kit with a book and a resin nose. I picked it up at 1/2 price earlier this week, but found the Hasegawa kit today and bought it. I may use the markings out of the R/M kit on the Hasegawa kit though, along with some of the stores.
We'll see if I ever get around to it in the first place!!!
