Hi all
Another inspirational veteran has left us - Mary Ellis, who delivered over 400 Spitfires and countless other aircraft during WW2 has passed away on the Isle of Wight.

I took my flying lessons at Sandown, the small airfield which she ran for many years, but I sadly never had the chance to meet Mary, who was a local legend even then.
Without the ATA, the RAF would have struggled to maintain the fight during WW2, and the contribution of Mary and her colleagues is incalculable.
RIP, Mary. You did your country proud.
All the best
