For me it is 2 time sad, clearly for the people on board but also for the "Tante Ju", I was born and raised in front of the small airport of Locarno, I have lived there for more than 30 years and the 3 old Ju-52 are part of my summer memories, we used to cycling with friends to see them land and start again, they flew over my holiday home in the mountains, was enough hear the noise to know who was and you saw her arrive in his majestic slowness, I also did a panoramic flight as teenager with her, unforgettable, once for an anniversary have arrived all 3 together ... beautiful!
All 3 were bought from Germany in 1939 together with the BF-109 and were active in the Army Air Force from 1939 until 1981 !! ... not bad for a corrugated iron aircraft from the 1930s
Condolences to families of passengers and crew.
