Saw the reveal and spoke to the guy that built it and one of the Airfix guys.
A surprise for some and many seemed disappointed. but it is for the US market and had been in gestation for some time but blocked by the money guys! I for one love it, it's Airfix, it's 1/24 and it is, like the Typhoon, stunning! And if by aiming at the US market Airfix are able to better secure their future this is a very good and sensible move. There will be a FAA version and if this is the success that it is hoped that it will be then who knows what will be next, probably a Corsair and that would be a very good choice too

At first was luke warm to the idea but now it's grown on me and definitely going to be adding this to the collection next to the Tiffy!

Airfix just keep popping out their signature 1/24th scale kits and I for one applaud their efforts. Whilst I'll likely not be able to buy one of the Hellcats it looks like a truly awesome kit. And having built a couple of their earlier kits the Mosquito and Typhoon remain high on my want list. My wallet however sit quietly in a corner rocking and quietly sobbing.
