after 15 months away from the bench I finally sat down and started building something. I wanted to "start small" and not jump right back into the Hellcat so I grabbed AM's P-51B out of the closet.

Well as the saying goes, all the best laid plans.......

The more I dug, the more I found needed work.

There is a contstruction article in the Work in Progress section of my website:

Scott, glad to hear it. I look forward to seeing some more of your work.

How did you get the detail on the seat back? Is it another piece of alum with the detail cut out and placed over the original seat back?

I've used this method myself (following instructions Scott gave somewhere else-either magazine or his site) to construct a new seat and it's not as hard as it looks if any of you want to give it a shot.

Scott, how did the surgery go?

Nice one Scott!

Great to have building new stuff and showing it on Armorama!

That's looking really beautiful - the detail on the seat is exceptional.

By coincidence, I'm building AM's RAF Mustang 1A and have just completed stage one of adding a bit of extra detail - like adding the missing armour plate etc. I've also made a few other changes to match photos of an RAF aircraft.

I don't suppose your refs show whether RAF machines had a flare-port? As far as I can tell they didn't... but now's a good time to pin it down!

All the best

Rowan
