I'm two kits into my "new" Aifix stash and results have been mixed. Thumbs up on P40A, Down on C-47. I have others in my stash - curious about the alternatives. Any advice on "keep" the Airfix, or "eBay" the Airfix appreciated.
1/72 HE-111: Alternative is the relatively newHasegawa 1/72 HE-111.
1/72 B-17G: Alternatives is the relatively new Revell Germany 1/72 B/17G
1/48 BF-109E: Alternative would be 90s era Tamiya 1/48 BF-109E
Thanks in advance
Eric

Not sure about the He 111 or the 109, but the Airfix B-17 is definitely at least a step up from the Revell kit.

I have the old 'corrected' Tamiya 109 and the Airfix version - would say the Tamiya is the better kit for engineering and general finesse. Eduard do a 109 E range - I only have there 1/32 version, but that's a good kit, not up with their more recent F and G range, but still good.

The 1/48th Hurricane and Boulton-Paul Defiant are both excellent kits

I bought a 1/72 Bf-109 G6 last year. It must have been the old mold in a new box-it's not up to par. I'll buy the newly released Tamiya model.
Take care,

Thanks for the good news on the Hurricane. Tamiya doesn't make a Hurricane I - their kit has Italeri plastic. Same is true with the Tamiya Stuka. I've got the Airfix Stuka and Hurricane. I did a "new tool" Italeri Sunderland last year and it was a chore (looks neat from 10 feet though.)But no Italeri.

as for the He-111 the Hasegawa is probably a bit better especially if you can get the Revell re-box which is substantially cheaper (nr. 04377). The Airfix is not bad at all but with the recent pricing you might want to go for the Revell/Hasegawa box (so maybe "keep").
For the B-17 I would probably go for the Revell kit (less parts finer details, better price) that means "e-bay".
Also for the Bf-109 I would consider the Eduard kit. The Weekend edition is utterly cheap, and the Profipack version is also well priced and it seems that currently it is the best 1/48 Emil available (so "e-bay" the Airfix kit).
