Well, aircraft manufacturer based campaigns seem to be a bit of a rage lately, so let's see about keeping that going. We've had two Soviet and an American company recently, so how about giving the Brits their due?
Sopwith Aviation needs no introduction as one of the premier supplier of aeroplanes to the British flying services in WWI. Unfortunately, as orders dried up after the war ended, so did Sopwith's business. Attempts at reorganization were unsuccessful and the company soon decided to liquidate. While some of the physical assets were sold off to other concerns, the aviation side of the business, including patents, designs, and so forth, were bought up by a new company called H.G. Hawker Engineering with none other than T.O.M. Sopwith as Chairman (hmm... coincidence? I think not.) This eventually became Hawker Aircraft and Hawker Siddeley before being merged in to BAe (British Aerospace.)
This campaign would focus on one of the oldest and most distinguished Aerospace firms in the world. Sopwith, Hawker, and BAe have supplied the U.K. with fighting airplanes since before the First World War until today. Lots of potential for an interesting campaign, I'd say!
What do you all think?

Well Michael, to be honest, this isn't the direction I was hoping for when I floated a bunch of suggestions last month. Out of nearly 400 kits begging for my attention, there is but one that truly meets the criteria, an Academy 1/72 Sopwith Camel F.1. I don't think that an AV-8B qualifies as it was heavily reworked by McDonnell Douglas. I finished the Blackburn (Hawker Siddeley) Buccaneer for the RAF 100 campaign.
What about the T-45 Goshwak? It's root is in the BAe Hawk?

Mark,
If you haven't noticed by now, I have a "campaign problem". I'm constantly coming up with new themes. I suppose that's why they made me admin. Didn't mean to steal your thunder and I do think your ideas are good ones and look forward to seeing what comes of them!
The Harrier is definitely a Hawker design, McDD just borrowed it. Ditto for the Goshawk.

Hm did a Hurricane last year and a Harrier this year, did the Camel two years ago I think and not feeling like a need another one right now. However I do have the Typhoon in the stash...
EDIT: If Your looking for new ideas for campaign why not make justice to the extreme temperatures we have over here in Europe right now and do an African campaign ? Everything that flew in Africa, any war, any type. Could be an interesting bunch, including "traditionalists" with me-109s and Spitts to outright extreme eg Magister in Katanga or the Texans in Biafra or Cuban Migs in Angola

Well, Michael, I too have a "campaign" problem. 1) I look to them for inspiration for what to pull out of the stash and get started. 2) I NEVER FINISH!
I'm about halfway done with a biplane, so the Camel is almost a no go. Not ready for another rigging project. The Harrier and the Goshawk offer encouraging targets.

Sounds good.
I've got about a dozen kits that would fit the bill.

Well, an interesting theme, I'm sure I'd give it a try.
My stash holds some qualifiers:
Hawker Typhoon, Sea Fury, Hunter, Harrier....
So count me in!
Cheers
Peter

Looking in my stash I found Airfix's Harrier GR.7, the first tooling from the early 90's. It's the last boxing of the kit which included decals and a set of extra weapon sprues for aircraft used during Operation Telic. I believe it's the same sprue they chucked in with their Jaguar GR.3.
From what I remember it's not a bad kit. I built the GR.5 boxing sometime around 96/97 and don't remember it giving me any problems.
So, a good opportunity to get this one built.

Happy to join. Currently looking through my spares box to find some better things to put under the wings. The kits are a bit basic, but they do provide some really nice stencil decals for them. I know I have some better BL755's somewhere and Mavericks. I hope I have the launch rails, because Airfix forgot them! From what I remember, that was a common weapon load during Telic although I will do my homework before I commit.

I know Im stretching it a bit far here, but wasnt BAC the forerunner of BAE and werent they part of the SEPECAT project - eg designing the wings for the JAGUAR ?

Man, that is kinda stretching things. I realize BAC became part of BAe, but before that they weren't part of Hawker Siddeley. So I'm including BAe because it's post Hawker Siddeley. I think going backwards to BAC would be going too far. Sorry!
