I am working on a diorama posted over at Aromrama That includes a MH-6J.
Here is my attempt at the Kitty Hawk version:
I must say that the Kitty Hawk kit left me very dissatisfied. lots of problems with the build: warped parts, bad molding, confusing instructions; the whole lot! definitely not a model for beginners!
Anyways here are some pictures of the build:
This is the modification I did to stick the wire to hold the helo in the "air":

Nice adjustment and finish if it is as bad as you say out of the box.
Did the rope for the fast rope come with the kit? WAY to big for scale. Check Blackdog for a nice (and inexpensive!) resin fast rope kit.

I made the rope myself. I thought I was very careful mesuring the thicknes from several reference photos. I will post my reference photos later.
