Hi, All!
Seen over at "CYBERMODELER What's New", new EDUARD 1/48 Aircraft kits. I didn't check their 1/48 modern aircraft too well, but for "pre-War" and WWII fans, EDUARD is supposedly going to release the following for 2020, and they will supposedly be "all new":
F4F Wildcat-series
P-36 Hawk
P-51B/C Mustang
If these three new-series kits follow EDUARD's latest-style of new tooling, as they have done with their latest P-51D, Bf.109s, Fw.190s, and MiG-21s, we'll be in for some new "delights"...
Hmmm, 2020 should be another interesting year...
PS- I have no idea how "Modern- 1975 to Today" came up in the "Topic" Banner, for I certainly did NOT specify that. I meant for this to be a "GENERAL" topic, and nothing more...
Thanks for reading,
VR- Dennis

I had heard about this but hadn't seen anything official. I am hoping it really is a new tool and not a rebox of someone else's kit. I also saw they plan to release a P-40b/c.
ICM's A-26 should be out soon according to what is posted there.

Hi there
Wow! I'm sure somebody at Eduard must be reading my wish-list for 1:48! A series of accurate Wildcats will be a longtime dream come true, and I prefer the P-51B/C to the 'D/K (I know I'm in a minority there ), so it's all great news. And a P-36/P-40 series too... it just gets better and better!
All the best
Rowan

Hello, Everyone!
First, a big "Thank You" to whomever moved my topic from "Modern Aircraft, !975 to Today". I didn't know that I could have done that, nor do I know how this happened in the first place...
In any case, folks, YES!!! I absolutely AGREE that a brand new P-36 and P-40-series of 1/48 aircraft are sorely needed. Not only has EDUARD scored some big numbers with their "new" series of re-tooled Bf.109s and Fw.190s, their new "Limited Edition Chattanooga Choo Choo" P-51D-5 is already sold out in many quarters. Their new P-51D-10 is due before the year is out, and there will probably be a "Royal Class", as well...
To be honest, I really don't know why TAMIYA opted to release their 1/48 P-38F/G Lightning instead of the P-38H, or the P-38J/L first. The P-38H was the first model of the P-38 which went into production with Dive Brakes, which were installed in the outer Main Wings' undersides. Also, the P-38J/L were the most numerous of the entire series. Perhaps (I HOPE!) TAMIYA means to do a P-38-series in chronological order??? A whole new series of 1/48 P-38s from TAMIYA would make A LOT of modelers of WWII aircraft very happy! On a personal note, I always preferred the "slimmer" looks of the earlier P-38s over the later J/L-models, but I don't want to open a "can of worms" just by having said that...
I also feel that we could use a new series of "state-of-the-art" 1/48 P-40s with PROPER single Fuselage-halves, as opposed to HASEGAWA's separately-molded Tail Empennage. This type of ill-designed nonsense raised no end of consternation, protestation AND frustration with many P-40-fans. So much grief has been expressed by modelers over the separate "Tails" and the resulting misalignment-issues of the HASEGAWA P-40s over the years, I have bought only two of their P-40s; a P-40E a couple of years ago, and an -N just over this last weekend, on Ebay...
I think EDUARD would do themselves proud to do an entirely new-tooled series of 1/48 P-40s. An all newly-tooled 1/48 P-36 would be a logical adjunct to a new P-40-series. I say, "YES!!!" to that!
Ahh- New WILDCATS! Neither the old TAMIYA F4F-4 or the newer HOBBY BOSS 1/48 F4F-3s, F4F-4s and FM-1s/2s do the Wildcat any real justice in 1/48 scale. All have issues. What can I possibly say to all-new 1/48 Wildcats but, "WOW! Bring 'em ON!!!"
Now I'm gonna throw out a real challenge:
An entire newly-tooled series of 1/48 P-47s. I don't mean only the "Razorback" & "Bubble Top" -Ds and the "Hot Rod" -Ms, but an inclusion of the earlier-series "flat Keel" -Bs and -Cs, and the final, ultimate P-47Ns. Anyone going to vote for these..?
Jets- WE need entirely-new 1/48 P/F-80s, F-86s AND F-100s- Whatever is already out there representing these "Post WWII/Korea/Post Korean War-era USAF Fighters, is sorely lacking. The US Navy and USMC 1950s and early 1960s Fighters and Fighter Bombers are also under-represented. The same goes for British aircraft of the same era. NEW ONES, please...
I'm not going to go on and on, ranting about this, but you all get the idea. If we can stomach endless Bf.109s and MiG-21s, well then...

Hi, Russ!
I'm hoping that ICM's new A-26B & -C and B-26 "Korea" Invader kits will be as good as the rest of their newer line of kits- Their Do.17s, He.111s and Ju.88s have been getting some "good press". I'm also hoping that they will release a B-26K "Vietnam-version" somewhere on down the line...
The news of the new Wildcats has also got me "going"!
P-40B & -C... Re-boxed kits? JEEZ, I HOPE NOT!!! What- The old ACADEMY/HOBBYCRAFT/MINICRAFT kits? THAT would be such a big "let-down"!!!
I don't think they would go for the new 1/48 AIRFIX P-40s, but then again, the AIRFIX early P-40s are INFINITELY better than the older kits I just mentioned above. So, in today's world, ANYTHING is possible... We could REALLY USE all-new P-40Es, -Fs, -Ks, -Ms and -Ns. A PLASTIC XP-40Q might be nice, while we're at it...

Hi, Rowan!
AGREE vehemently on all points, except for the P-51B/-Cs, but the -Bs and -Cs DO run a VERRRY-close "second" to the -Ds and -Ks, in my list of "favorites"! I think the P-51Bs/-Cs and the RAF Merlin-Engined Mk.IIIs look especially nice with their Malcolm Hoods...
AML will be doing a P-51H, but I haven't any experience with AML's plastic... Yet... We could use a proper F-82 "Twin Mustang" as well...
Personally, I think 2020 just might become a "Banner Year" for us "1/48-ers"!

I don't think these will be out in 2020. These are planned kits in the next few years. As a matter of fact they are just starting the research on the Hellcat. Things can change.

Hi, Craig!
"Research on the Hellcat"..? EDUARD has recently released a couple more versions of their already EXCELLENT F6F Hellcat kits, unless they're researching all-new ones..? Or, might you be thinking of the F4F Wildcat-series as posted on CYBERMODELER's website..?
Just asking...
