Hi,

I have this old Microscale decal sheet I plan on using on a Skyraider I'm about to start.
Would like to do the VNAF version, but I'm not sure about the colours on the insignia.
As can be seen in the photos, the bars either side are white and red, rather than yellow and red. No photo I've found shows this variation.
I've found other copies of this sheet for sale on eBay and they're the same.

So either this is an error with these sheets, or an early variation of the insignia.


What are everyone's thoughts?

I think this could have been a printing error by not adding the yellow in the bars. All The VNAF aircraft I saw pictures of, had the red and yellow bars.

That's what I'm thinking to be honest. Probably an error that effected the entire run. Strange that the yellow on the Tiger head and rescue arrow is printed though.

Wonder if I can get a set of VNAF stars from somewhere as I would like to do this one.

Aoadecals.com has 48 scale decals for VNAF Spads. You can also try Hannants. Don't I know if you can get just the national insights though.

Just looked and Hannants have the AOA sheets. Bit pricey though. Not a lot of change from £20!
If I can't find anything else they might be my only option though. Till then I'll keep looking.

Cut out the white sections. Spray yellow rectangles on the plane and place decal on top. Job done....

you can go online google and type in VNAF Skyraider, there is an excellent photo of this aircraft. Yes the bars should be yellow, the star stays white.

Gary, I'm going to try your suggestion of cutting out the white bars. I have some yellow decal strips I could put under and seal.
