Hi All,
I'm in the middle of doing a new review of the Dragon Arado Ar 234C and included in the kit is the thing illustrated below.
Anyone know what it is?

Thanks and Cheers

Hi flitzer !

I'm really not sure, must be some kind of AGM, as the 234 used standard drop tanks and the experimental AAMs looked otherwise. I heard (but never saw) something about a "Lufttorpedo", but I can't remember where and when. Surely it was never installed. I'll check it after work and tell you the results tomorrow.

Thanks geronimo..
At first glance I thought it might be the Henschel Hs 294 rocket anti-ship missile, but there's no main wings for a start.
The annoying thing is it looks so familiar.....
It's not in any refs I have here...so I'll be most gratefull if you can find it.

Thanks again.
Cheers

Hello Flitzer !

A quick search in the net @ www.luftarchiv.de (English navigation available) did not lead to any results. They've listed every rocket projectile. It's definetly not a Hs 294, although its shape is the closest to your parts. But as you mentioned, the main wings and the rocket engine are missing.
In my home I have a book about "Wunderwaffen" and some of those rockets. Let's hope it is included.
To your model: What are these pins on the left half for ? Where will they be fixed to ? Is it only one projectile or two ? And who's the manufacturer ? Maybe they know what they produced ...?

Cheers back (with German beer)

Hi geronimo....
the pins are for locating the beast under the belly of the Ar 234C.
Its a single pojectile...2 body halves, 1 with fin and 2 extra fins to be arranged at 120 degrees spacing between each fin.
The make of model is Dragon and this "mystery" is also included in the Revell version of the Ar 234C3 & Ar E381.
I've checked both the Dragon and Revell instructions but there's no reference name included just part no's and assembly diagrams.
If it helps...part no's are Dragon sprue "C" no's 11, 23 and 2x 22.
Revell sprue and no's same...as the Revell is a re-boxed Dragon.

If you can crack this I think you deserve a new name...Sherlock.

Thanks for all your help.
Prost
Peter

Hi there

TriMaster also included an identical weapon with their 1/48 Fw190D-12, but also failed to name it.

I think Frank has supplied the answer via his great link. A search revealed the BT (Bombentorpedo) 400

All the best

Ladies !

Good to hear that news. I also had that thing in mind with a Fw 190. Unfortunately my source turned out to be another Henschel "Gleitbombe". And stupid as I am, I only checked the rocket/guided-bomb-section at Luftarchiv ...
But as the link was useful, I'd say mission accomplished !

@flitzer

I should give this Dragon/Revell Ar-234C a try. The last 234 I built was the old Matchbox-kit including the V-1. I still love these old kits; reminds me of my childhood
#:-)
Last year at Intermodellbau in Dortmund I was lucky to get my hands on a Matchbox Saab Viggen (still in original package), which was in fact my very first self-constructed plastic model 24 vears ago ! That bastard wanted 10€ for it ! But it was a must-have ... Ups, I'm getting OT (and sentimental)

CU (come to visit the famous city of Aachen)

Would love to visit again and probably will one day in the not too distant future.

Cheers again
