My "Modelling ADHD" has kicked in again. With AFV Club's M109A3 Van nearing completion and AMT's Ford Louisville Delivery Truck just about done, I had to crack open something very different.

Revell's M*A*S*H H-13H Helicopter seemed to speak to me.



First things first - bits that go into the tube frame.



Quite of bit of sanding and scraping of seams, but that's okay.

I really do need to rewatch this series. My dad has the complete set on dvd so maybe I can borrow them.

It looks like it is coming along well. It is a pretty good kit. Of note though, it is not accurate for a Korean War MASH helicopter. The Revell kit is of a later OH-13H (Bell 47H), an early Vietnam era observation helicopter.

The Korean War era version was the H-13D (Bell 47D). The biggest difference is the skids. The D had squared off skid tubes as opposed to the rounded tubes of the H model. Also, the fuel tank(s) are different. The D model had one large tank where the H model had two smaller tanks.

Academy makes a very nice H-13D with actual US Army MASH markings, not fictional ones from the TV show.

I'll leave off the litters and go with an "okay" Vietnam bird.

Skid to the frame:



The tail framing was somewhat warped. I used a heat-gun to help to straighten it out. Unfortunately, I warped the tail light rod. I've cut the lights off and cut a piece of 1/16 aluminum tube to rebuild it.

Primered the cockpit tub and some related parts and put a darker OD on the main assembly:

P.S. The "dog" figure is one of two the wife wants me to clean up and repaint.

Most of the framework is done now.

The cockpit is painted along with most of the controls. I have a sheet of dial decals that I'll use for the instrument panel which will certainly make it come alive.

wow you've really made that kit shine, makes me think that I should organise another helicopter campaign.

I'm happy to say I've gotten a bit more done on the whirly-bird.

I've added the engine and painted the rotors.

Kind of slow going with three other builds going on....

No, no binning of this one. It is a decent kit though the tail structure is warped a bit (twisted). I tried several things to straighten it out but none really worked. So...this chopped landed a bit hard - Yeah, I'll stick to that.

It is looking good. This is definitely a descent kit. It represents a Vietnam ear OH-13H pretty well.
