Could not find a search button so I will ask, How does everyone paint the blotches on the lower side of the 109? do you freehand, make a template, masking? I think I am making more out of this than I have to but this will be my first attempt at something like this?

Thank you all very much

Jeff,

I do all mottling and squiggles freehand, which is the way the originals were painted (with a few exceptions, like very late war G/Ks tails). I’ve seen a few models painted with masks but to my taste it doesn’t look as good. Might be relevant to say that I only do 1/48, a scale that makes this kind of airbrushing more “friendly”, but there’s a lot of talented modelers here that do it in 1/72 with precision.

Here’s one with a rather heavy mottling

That is some awesome work Pedro, and Magnus, thank you for the link to the templates. Guess I'll get out a sheet of paper and try both techniques. This is why I love kit maker network.

You guys are incredible

Thanks for helping me on this

Jeff
