Well, the F-84 seems to be the clear favorite, so let's go with it.
First things first. This is one of those kits that Tamiya chose to release with "chrome" plating. I get why they do this, but it's gotta go if you want to build an actual model where you clean up seams, etc. So:

Always interesting to see what color plastic they used. I have a MiG-15 kit I did this to, and one of the sprues was black! Let's see what color the fuselage is:

Off white. Kinda boring, Tamiya. But the yellow is nice! Guess I'll be primering this one for sure.
I have two decal sheets to choose from, the kit sheet and one from Airway Graphics I picked up before the dedicated kit was released. I'll probably try to go for the Airway one first, but it's 21 years old, so we'll see how it's held up. I also have the Cutting Edge cockpit set for the kit, so that's a nice addition I found in my stash! You never know when you'll find something useful.
Oh, and Mark, I actually live in Colorado Springs, home of the Air Force Academy. We actually get a T-Bird show for graduation every year. So you'd think that's where my interest would focus. Never know about these things.
