Hello friends!
I'm starting to plan my next aircraft build, and I've got a hankering for a B-24J. I'm just getting back into the hobby after ~10 years. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good kit for a B-24J? I prefer 1/48 for my aircraft models, and I've got the HK Models 1/48 B-17 on tap so I'd like to keep the scale of my collection the same, but I also think the only 1/48 B-24J kit is the old Revell one with raised details which I'd like to avoid.
I'm open to 1/72 suggestions if noone knows about any other 1/48 B-24Js. Kinda hoping that someday HK Models will produce a 1/48 one, too.
If you've got any thoughts or recommendations, please do drop a comment!
And always, happy modeling!
Andrew

Right now the Revellogram kit is the only game in town.

Hi Andy
good to hear you're getting back into the hobby after a break...
It's my long held suspicion that Airfix will release a newly tooled B24(likely a J) in the not too distant future

Jessie...that's what I was afraid of. And re-scribing all those panel lines is outside of my scope of practice currently, unfortunately.
Russell, that's good intel! Is this just a hunch, or have you got a source??

I agree with Russ.
I think Airfix's big release next year could indeed be a B-24. Makes sense as they have a newly tooled Lanc, Heinkel, B-17, B-25 and others. It's logical that they will add one to their bomber line up eventually.
It's likely though to be 1/72.
Of course Airfix could surprise us with something completely different.

Hi Andrew It's more of hunch than anything else: Airfix have a knack of surprising us with their choice of new kits; they seem to be choosing 2 and 4 engine topics to fill out their 1/72 range; they look for subjects with no modern tooling equivalent...

Agreed, Stephen The B-17 being a great example of them choosing a 4 engined heavy built in large numbers and served with many airforces... Ticks all of Airfix's boxes
