Does anyone have any information about the Revell OH-58 Kiowa 1:35 Helicopter Model Kit (03871)?

It’s my understanding it is the MRC kit. Which I didn’t think was that bad. The option in 1/35. Werner Wings has/had update sets for later versions. Fireball Modelworks had a nice sheet for it, OOP.

It is a rebox of the MRC kit with new decals. The new release when it was first announced is here, with discussion about it as well. The MRC kit is/was very nice. Nothing wrong with it at all.

would I be right in thinking then that it is the same kit as the Academy OH-58D like a warrior "Thugs" kit then?

That is correct. There is only one 1/35 kit; MRC, Academy, AFV and Revell all use the same molds.
