The Chinook is the workhorse of the Dutch Air Force and Airmobile Brigade, and that gave me inspiration to replicate this heavy lifter in scale.
To do this, I used Italeri's 1:48 CH-47F with parts from earlier releases. Various parts were scratchbuild to make this Chinook a Dutch one, and decals also had to be made by myself. To add some detail to the Italeri kit, I used an Eduard PE set for the exterior. I wanted to display my Chinook in it's element, so I added figures by PJ Productions for the pilots and loadmaster, and infantry by Airfix. The flatbed and crates were 3D printed. Painting was challenging, as the Dutch Chinooks show considerable wear of the paint with various touch-ups in darker shades. This was replicated by carefuly studying photos of my subject, D-667 with the nickname 'Rodney'. The finished result looks quite convincing I think, and it holds a special place in my collection now!
