I read here that people used vinegar as a decal setting solution. Anyone know the details of this method? Thanks David

Probably the same thing they do using Microset. Microset smells just like vinegar IMO.

Testors decal set also smells like vinegar and I know some modelers using vinegar as the decal solution.

Acetic acid is the main ingredient in Micro-sol and other setting solutions. Acetic acid is alos what gives vinegar most of its characteristics. I haven't tried using vinegar but it may be too strong and contain impuriies. You can always try a small unimportatn decal first.

But does the vinegar still stick the decal onto the model?
