Hope you guys can help. Did the Tuskegee Airmen's P-47 sport the red tail as on their P-51's? If so how much of the tail section was covered and if anyone knows of any web sites that has pics of the P-47 flown by the Tuskegee Airmen it would be a great help. I've done a google search but find very few pics of their P-47's but lots with their P-51's.

Thanks for any help.

I found some stuff on a website....
"Not all Tuskegee Airmen were pilots. They had mechanics, instructors, etc. In addition to the red tail P51s, the Tuskegee pilots flew P40, P39, P47, and the P51 Mustang. Not all P51s were red tailed. The 15th Air Force had four fighter groups flying escort - the 31st had a yellow and black checkerboard tail section. The 52nd had a solid yellow tail section. The 325th had a yellow and black candy striped tail section, and the 332nd fighter group had a solid red tail (this was Col. Mann's group). "
If you know which Sqns used which planes you'll be right

If I remember right, I don't believe the 332nd flew P-47s. It must have been one of the other fighter groups. I believe the 332nd flew P-40s initially, switching to P-51B/Cs (not sure which or if both) before switiching to the D model late in the war.
