Here's a few pics of my latest finished kit, Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter MkVI. It was a real beauty to build, superbly engineered and in places such a good fit it didn't need glue! The only things I would do differently with hindsight is to use the rockets from the Mosquito kit. They have bigger warheads and look better, the ones in this kit seem small somehow, although I'm sure they are accurate. Also spend less time on the cockpit interior detail, most of it can't be seen once assembled! There are a few more pics in my gallery.

Really neat Martin, this looks as if it could fly off that base and hammer a convoy.

G'day folks,

Excellent model subject, a neat finish, the 60lb rockets are best taken from any of the Typhoon kits, instead of the Mosquito.

A beauty, very nicely done Martin.
The more slender rockets, found in the Tamiya Beaufighter and Mosquito kits, are armour piercing, with 25lb warheads. The Hasegawa Typhoon has the S.A.P/HE 60lb warheads, both are fairley accurate. I agree with you, though, the 60lb rockets do look better. I'm building the Mosquito Mk VI at the moment and will be using the bombs, My next Mk VI will have 60lb rockets, when I can get hold of some. You've convinced me that I have to build a Beau a Torbeau, first though

Lovely bit of work there !!

I particularly love the way you have accented the panel lines; they make the aircraft come alive...

Keep up the good work!

Cheers, BP.

Many thanks for the kind words guys. Some of you may have looked at the side vbiew of the cockpit and thought "He's left out the gunsight." Well it is in there, I can hear it rattling around when I shake the kit.

Thanks, I used light grey to fade the paint by dry brushing it on.

Absolutely brilliant. Really captures the sun-bleached tones that you see in photos of Beaus in the Med theater. I want to see a picture taken outside in high sun; I know that's not really ideal photography lighting, but I bet you can get a pretty convincing replica of the over-exposed look that those early desert color photos have.
