Basic assembly is complete. Cockpit installed, and gaps filled/sanded where necessary...
Any suggestions on using/not using a base coat? Types, colour? Anything would be helpful. TKS

Typically, you can go in for either white or a light grey primer coat. It's recommended if you 're using acrylics. For enamel paints, it generally shouldn't matter...
If you are planning to have some weathering, in some cases people do go in for a silver/aluminium base coat, so that they can chip off the overlying paint later.
