The B-17 G "Aluminum Overcast" is down at the Van Nuys CA Airport, landing gear collaped, four props gone, minor underside damage, good news no one hurt.

Oh no. I've seen that bird a couple of times. I would LOVE to fly in her, but I've always worried that all the take offs and landings it goes through could lead to problems. I'm really torn on this issue, keep em flying so everybody can enjoy them, or to ground them to protect them. Like the HE III that crashed last year. I hated to here about that because I think it was the only one in flying condition left.
Glad to hear nobody was hurt though.

It is very sad to hear about this. Since I am very close to Oshkosh, WI , I have seen this plane many times and have even been fortunate enough to be inside. I hope the damage can be repaired and have it operating again soon. EAA is only a little more than three months away and this plane is always a star attraction.
