Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if you still want to do a group build. This idea can work, but we have got to get all the kinks worked out before we can begin to set a completion date.

Please post any ideas on this build here.....

Will a/c include helicopters? How about sci-fi space craft?
I may be interested in doing some type of flying contraption.

The NAVY flew helo's too. Early on. As to spacecraft, you'll have to stick with Marines....

I thought that we were set up for : US navy prop driven aircraft, any scale, any period...
3 months to complete...

I'll certainly be building a 1/72nd avenger by hasegawa with eduard PE.

Thats what I thought to. I am going to copy and paste another post here from the other thread we had going because it looks like this will be the place for discussion from now on, here it is.

I think the build rules are great. I would like to be so bold as to nominate Ladymodelbuilder as the boss even if she isn't the highest ranking. She is always active on the aircraft thread and her aircraft work that I have seen is awsome. I also see her a lot around the other parts of the sites so I know she is here a lot and active. She joined the site after me and has already passed me in rank. How does everyone feel about that, including you Penny, don't won't to put this on you if you don't want it. That's another $.02 of input for me.

I vote Penny for Group Leader.

By the way, I will most likely be building Swords 1/72 Bearcat. Nicest little Navy kitty ever!

I second the Penny nomination. Any others before we close the floor to nominations?

Hey Rob, if you build an Army P-2 Neptune (and they did exist!) I'll vouch for an exception for you. Check the Squadron Signal book Gunships

Thanks for the votes guys....How does a completion date of October 31, 2002 sound to ya? Maybe Jim can add a really cool Aircraft Contest Button like he did for the Armor guys....

October 31 is plenty of time.
When and how do we start to sign up for this.

That day sounds great for a finish to me. It will give everyone who doesn't have a kit yet time to get and and still have a full 3 months to build it. This will be fun. I am going to build a 1/48 TBF. It will be my first 1/48 ever. I might go crazy (and get in over my head) and get a P.E. kit for it and some resin air brake flaps I saw somewhere.

P.S. since it looks like Penny is going to be the boss, I think she should feel free to do whatever she needs to get things going. I am willing to help out however I can and I am sure others are also.

Signing up for rookie duty ma'm!

Hello everybody. This is my first post here.

I'm from Bangalore, India, and have picked up modelling after a gap of nearly 3 years, thx to the pressures of both going to work and setting up a family!

I'll be making a WWII Grumman F6F-3/5 Hellcat by Academy in 1/72 scale. Have a lot of things to do to pick up where I left off from ! Not just modelling/painting, but also learning to handle an airbrush(yep, I used to do brush painting in my cave ), weathering/drybrushing and all the addnl gory details that go into making a good model.

Hope I'll be accepted, and looking forward to interacting with the rest of the group more often. BTW, would like to know as to exactly what we're gonna be doing : making a model just for fun, or try and achieve an IPMS Club standard. If it's the second, then I may not be coming upto par with the rest of you guys !

More laterz...

Rgds,
Bytepilot.

Welcome aboard Bytepilot !
I'll be building this model just as usual : to have fun !!!!!
And just as usual, I'll try to make it just a bit better than the one before.
I'm not realy a beginner anymore with plane models but I wouldn't win
anything in an IPMS competition ! But I don't care as long as it's fun !

I hope there'll be beginners models as well as incredible models in that groupbuild !

Sounds like a good time to make a return to aircraft modeling... just one little question. Does U.S navy mean that the aircraft has to have U.S. Navy markings???

Well. That's good news. And with the talented Penny Price as my Co-Pilot (pardon the pun) how can I go wrong?
