Has anyone built the Tamiya 1/48 Brewster BUFFALO F2A-2 kit? I have a chance to get one for a decent price and was wondering if it is a good kit. Any info would be great.
Cheers

Built one years ago, during one of my aircraft stages, got two in the closet, one started, (one of these days I'll finish it)
it's about a 20 years old kit, but still a decent one. I have the kit in my hands now, it has engraved panel ines on the wings, and a combination of engraved and raised on the fuselage.
Looks like a Buffalo when done.... (read as I'm not a rivet counter), and is a buildable kit.

Hi Paul
Tamiya's Buffalo is a very nice kit. The detail is good and panel lines are almost all engraved (just a couple are raised lines for some reason).
The kit has been re-released and, to be honest, the earlier one is the best, because Tamiya (in their wisdom) deleted some of the options.
The early kit was No. 61019... the re-release was No. 61031.
Hope this helps

It is the original version, not the rerelease I can get. I am glad it is a good solid kit as I love the Buffalo for some reason.

The Buffalo is awesome, stubby and cool. For those that think it was a bad aircraft, have them read about what the Finns did with their export Buffaloes.

G'day,
The original kit has both the U.S.Navy and the Export version canopy's the re-issued one didn't, it builds into a solid little model. The attached photo is the re-issued kit built on contract for the RAAF.
It's the U.S.Navy version that has the telescope sight the 339 export version has a reflector sight. This is based on an RAAF Squadron from Singapore
hope it helps.
