I've just acquired ten Starfix aircraft models. The boxes measure about 8 1/2" long, 5 1/2" wide, and 1 1/2" thick. These models were made in Israel. My main question is some of the boxes are marked 1:48, and some 1:72. The weight of the box is the same, and the aircraft similiar. I think the 1:48 boxes are mismarked. I don't want to open one as they are for resale. Are they all actually 1:72? Any general review on the Starfix line would be a help as well. I'm an armor guy, mostly.

From everything I've heard, Starfix models aren't worth the firecracker to blow 'em to Hades. I have never heard one good thing about these wastes of petrochemicals. Okay, maybe you can do quick builds and use them for airbrush practice, but that's it.

Hmmm...sounds like an interesting group build - Starfix Only, with before shot of "finished" model, and after shot of builder destroying model. Awards given for best buildup and most creative destruction....Thank you for the scoop, I searched and found three other posts similiar to yours, glad I only paid $1.00 each. Interesting, quirky box art though, and the made in Israel stamp is different. Maybe they will be a sleeper hit for masochist modelers. I'm somewat serious about that last statement.

I bought one from a dollar store for a dollar (+tax). It was the Spitfire. The kit was pretty poor and was covered in grapefruit sized rivets.

I built it and painted it. Then I gave it to my son to play with. Not a serious kit and it was somewhere between 1/72 and 1/48 scale.
