Most US modelers over the age of 35 has probably cut their teeth on Lindberg models. Right now they concentrate on car models with "gimmicks" like lights, sounds and bouncing chassises. You know, low riders and hoppers.
The last line of serious models came out in the mid 1990s. They did some pretty nice 1/20 scale cars and even did some movie models. In 1992 they did Jurassic Park models that included several new dinosaurs, a few reissued old dinosaur kits and their 1/20 Ford Explorer with JP markings.
The last set of original movie models they did was for the Independence Day (ID4) movie in 1996. For this they made the alien craft that Will Smith flew, the large alien creature figure, an F-18 and a reissue of their old Stearman biplane that Randy Quaid flew in the movie.
They did three 1/35 armor kits in 1990, a T-55/Ti-67, BMP-1 and T-80. The T-55/Ti-67 was actually Squadron's kit of the year, but was quickly surpassed by Esci's T-55 series. The BMP-1 kit was bad and if you've ever seen it, you can tell they never finished tooling all the parts before they released it. The T-80 is a joke and only vaguely resembles a Soviet tank.
Currently they have reissued some of their ancient ships and airplanes like the Gato sub, Nautilas sub, Stilletto, XB-70, and several ships that were tied in with the 60th anniversary of D-Day (LST, LCVP). These kits were first released in the 1950s and 60s.
