Hi Hisham...
As far as I know the Air Boss is what you can call the senior air traffic controller.
As I said, this is what I know....regards, John.

The Air Boss is the commander (usually a Captain) in charge of the airwing on a carrier... His personal aircraft always carries the numerals 001....Jim

Sorry Jim, that is the CAG (Commander Air Group).
The Air Boss is the one in charge of all operations on the flight deck, launching and recovering aircraft, and all aircraft while in the air. As Dragonwagon said, he is basically the senior air traffic controller and the ground controller at a normal airport all rolled into one.
If you have seen the movie Top Gun, he is the guy in the yellow shirt that Maverick asks permission for a fly-by from, is denied, "Negative Ghost Rider, the patern is full," and does it anyways. That would have really gotten him in big trouble in the real world.
hope that answers your question.

Thanks, HeavyArty.. Again, you were very helpful. If anybody out there ever needs anything about Arabic language or anything related to that(maybe for a diorama or something) please let me know.

Ciao Hisham,
Yes, the Air Boss the guy on the carrier who owns the flight deck and all air operations. Technically, his position is Head of the Air Department. He is a captain, wears a yellow jersey, and screams at anyone who jogs on their flight deck at the wrong time (that would be me.)
Ciao for now
Rob
